Group Indigenous clash with police in Rio

A group representing several Brazilian indigenous tribes clash with police trying to break into the Brazil Congress to protest the bill that they fear that will threaten their way of life, Xinhua reported Wednesday.

The group was protesting against a bill that would relax rules for land demarcation of indigenous peoples and the second bill that would transfer power to differentiate such land from the executive to the legislature.
"Indigenous peoples have not been consulted on the bills," said Sonia Huazhazhara, national coordinator of the Association of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil.
Indigenous leaders recently also protested against the candidacy of Congressman Katia Abreu in the Ministry of Agriculture.
