Social media has become a powerful tool for terrorist groups to spread their wings and recruit vulnerable young people to fill their ranks.

The arrest of Bangalore-based executive Mehdi Masrur Biswas allegedly put out material for the terrorist group Islamic state (IS) on the Internet gathered intelligence services to virtual jihad threat.

Biswas belongs to the middle-class family from Calcutta and studied electrical engineering at Gurunanak Dev Institute of Technology in 2012. He then joined the ITC, Bangaluru, after dialing the campus. He worked as a production executive of ITC Foods, and stayed in a studio apartment in the IT city.
